Hawkeyes Announce Start Times for Home Duals


IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa wrestling team announced Wednesday starting times for home duals at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 2017-18.

The Hawkeyes host Oklahoma State (Jan. 14) in a Sunday matinee beginning at 3 p.m. (CT). Iowa hosts Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 5 p.m., and Minnesota on Friday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m.

Friday night duals against Rider, Illinois, and Michigan State will start at 7 p.m. (CT).

The Iowa City Duals begin at 10 a.m. with three consecutives duals against Iowa Central, Buffalo (11:30 a.m.), and North Dakota State (1 p.m.).  The Hawkeyes host Northwestern on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m., in their final home dual of the season (early start time in account of Super Bowl Sunday and a UI women’s basketball afternoon tipoff at Carver-Hawkeye Arena).

Season tickets are $80 and available for purchase at hawkeyesports.com or by contacting the UI Athletics Ticket Office at 800-IA-HAWKS. Season tickets include a $25 savings when compared to single-dual pricing, and season ticket holders get priority for April's UWW World Cup.

The UWW World Cup is the annual international dual meet championship that features the top eight men's freestyle wrestling teams in the world. Team USA, the 2017 UWW World Champion, is represented by Iowa All-American and world silver medalists Thomas Gilman, and Olympic and World medalists Jordan Burroughs, J'Den Cox, 
Nick Gwiazdowskiand Kyle Snyder.

The UWW World Cup will be contested April 7-8 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

CCP - September 1st

Week 1 of the fall season is in the books.  In football, Wilton and Durant got wins, Tipton and North Cedar took losses.  Games for week two are - Wilton at Durant, Louisa-Muscatine at Tipton and Lisbon at North Cedar.
In volleyball, the River Valley Conference has started out with a 56-14 record combined by their 13-member schools.  Four schools remain unbeaten and five schools are ranked by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.  Ranked 3A schools are - #3 Tipton, #9 West Liberty and #15 Monticello.  Ranked 2A schools are - #9 Wilton and #15 Iowa City Regina.

Cross-Country and Swimming continue along with meets.  The four conservative area teams ran at iowa City last night and the Tipton swimming team competes at the Muscatine Invitational tomorrow.
